What event caused the United States to get involved in World War II?

At 7:53AM, Sunday, December 7, 1941, Japan suddenly attacked United States naval facilities in Pearl Harbor, Hawaii. Over 2,500 Americans died. The next day, the USA delcared war on Japan. Germany and Italy declared war on the USA.
